Negotiation track 20-21
For the seventh time in LCM SA history, we unroll the Negotiation Track. This forms the core of our activities. As 36 eager students join the student association, we train and coach them to become advanced negotiators. Our philosophy is that you need a strong base of theory combined with as much practice as possible.
Over the years, we have kept improving and finetuning the Negotiation Track. A total of about 24 sessions, including two member weekends, will be organized. These workshops build upon each other to result in an extensive program which gradually teaches the skills required for an integrative negotiator.
Practice makes perfect. The insight that negotiation is something that you need to do to keep improving is what resulted in the foundation of LCM SA. This mindset is highly present in our workshops. We work with a flipped classroom system: the members prepare the theory at home and during the workshops, we zoom in on some key principles. Each workshop includes cases to apply the theoretical concepts.
Next to the regular workshops, we have multiple case sessions planned. Here, the goal is to mimic a real-life case as good as possible. Based on confidential information for each of the involved parties, the students make their way from opposing interests all the way to the final agreement. In these sessions, we make sure to observe the negotiations closely in order to offer personal feedback. It is in these sessions that we can maximize the learning curve.
As you can see on the scheme, we also have two member weekends. This creates a fun environment to work in and to strengthen the friendships between our members. As a student association, we have not forgotten the importance of a fun atmosphere as well!
Finally, for some of the later workshops, we work with professionals who have first-hand experience. Our association is proud to have them in our network. The sheer amount of knowledge they have to share is wonderful. Learning from them can truly bring your negotiation skills to the next level.
In the table below you can find the scheme of our workshops per semester. However, this version is not final and will get updated. Be sure to keep an eye on our website, where you can always find an up-to-date version.
